Lace is designed to feel like a quick aside — open it, ask something, get an answer, and get back to what you were doing.

How it works

1

Open the overlay

Press ⌘L or click the menu bar icon. The overlay appears on top of your current workspace.
2

Ask a question

Type in the chat input. Lace automatically captures what’s on your screen and uses it as context.
3

Attach files

Drag documents into the chat or use the attachment button. Lace can read PDFs, images, spreadsheets, and more.
4

Get your answer

Lace responds with context-aware help. It can generate artifacts like summaries, analyses, or previews — viewable inline or in focus mode.

Window modes

Lace has two window sizes you can toggle with ⌘⇧F:
  • Expanded — full-height floating window for focused work
  • Half-screen — compact mode for quick questions while keeping more of your screen visible

The pill

When you minimize Lace, a small floating pill stays on screen. Click it to bring back the full overlay. The pill also shows nudges — proactive insights Lace surfaces while you work.
