Focus mode gives you more room to work with what Lace generates. When you open an artifact, a screen capture, or a set of insight signals, focus mode expands the window and shows the content in a dedicated canvas alongside your chat.

When it’s helpful

  • Reviewing an artifact — A generated summary, analysis, or preview gets its own panel so you can read it without scrolling through the chat.
  • Examining screen context — View a captured screen at full resolution with detected elements highlighted.
  • Reading insight signals — When Lace synthesizes signals from your documents, screen, or data — focus mode lays them out clearly.

How it works

Focus mode activates automatically when you open content that benefits from more space. The window expands, and a canvas appears next to the chat sidebar.
ElementBehavior
Chat sidebarStays fixed at its normal width
Focus canvasTakes the remaining space, positioned left or right of the sidebar
WindowAnimates to accommodate both panels
Press ⌘⇧F to toggle window size, or close the focus content to return to the standard layout.

Canvas position

The focus canvas appears on the opposite side of the screen from where your Lace window is positioned. If Lace is on the right edge, the canvas opens to the left — and vice versa. This keeps both panels visible without overlap.

Exiting focus mode

Close the canvas content or switch to a different chat. Focus mode collapses smoothly and the window returns to its previous size.
